Final Fantasy 14 Is Getting A Tabletop RPG, Pre-Orders Now Open
Despite taking as big a step away from the formula as it ever has done before via Final Fantasy 16, the backbone of the Final Fantasy series is RPGs. Perhaps none more so than Final Fantasy 14 which continues to grow and has a massive following even though two more games in the series have been released since. Soon, your Final Fantasy 14 experience won’t be limited to your screens as the game will be getting an official tabletop RPG adaptation.
Square Enix announced the tabletop version of Final Fantasy 14 this week, sharing images and pre-order information for the game. Framed as an entirely new way to experience Eorzea, you can pre-order a starter set for the game right now through the studio’s official store. Don’t block out a few days in your diary for your first campaign just yet, though. The TTRPG currently has a release date of May 2024 attached to it.
The Final Fantasy 14 TTRPG starter set can be pre-ordered for $59.99 through the link below. The set includes everything you’ll need for your campaign, although there are two other books listed as „coming soon“ on the site that will presumably give you the chance to expand on your experience with the game.
Final Fantasy 14 TTRPG Starter Set
Final Fantasy 14 now has a tabletop RPG adaptation. The starter set includes everything you need to play the game and experience Eorzea from an entirely new perspective.
Recommended for three to five players – although Square suggests five is preferable – and each round will take roughly two hours, so maybe you won’t need to set aside more than an evening for a campaign next summer after all. The starter set includes the player book, gamemaster book, premade character sheets, custom dice, a strategy guide, encounter map, character tokens, ability markers, and a summary of the rules. Always handy, especially for an entirely new game.
2024 is going to be a big one for Final Fantasy 14 players. Not only will you have the chance to experience a tabletop version of the game, but its next big expansion, Dawntrail, will also be here by the summer. Dawntrail will be far from the end for the MMORPG either. Yoshi-P has already made it clear he has ideas for three more expansions that will be rolled out in Final Fantasy 14 over the course of the next ten years.
If you love all things Final Fantasy then there’s even more to look forward to in 2024. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth hits PS5 on February 29, and if you pre-order the Remake/Rebirth twin-pack right now, you effectively get the first game free and can download and play it right away.
