Spider-Man Fans Debate Which Suits They Want In The Sequel

Insomniac’s first two Spider-Man titles were chock full of suits, but two games aren’t enough to unpack Spider-Man’s extensive 60-year history, so there is plenty left for Insomniac to use. That’s what fans have been discussing on the subreddit.

„What suits do you want in the new game?“ u/SentaiUnicorn posted, prompting a thread of over 100 comments full of suggestions picked from a wide variety of comics. Expectedly, fans want to see Miles‘ Across the Spider-Verse suit, his newer hoodie costume, and the Leap of Faith look from Into the Spider-Verse. But with a symbiote in play, I’m gonna throw in my own suggestion–his Carnage look. I know he has like six arms, but I’m sure Insomniac can make it work.

„Cosmic suit, Raimi black suit, Spectacular Spider-Man suit,“ mrbluebubblesky said. You probably know the last two–Spider-Man 3 introduced Tobey Maguire’s wallcrawler to the alien Venom symbiote, resulting in some… not-so-great dance moves. Spectacular Spider-Man is the beloved fan-favourite show that got axed too soon. He even appeared in Across the Spider-Verse.

Cosmic Spider-Man is a little less famous. He’s the Earth-13 Peter Parker, hailing from an alternate timeline where he kept the powers of the Enigma Force, forming a refuge for Spiders who were running from the Inheritors (evil interdimensional Spider-eating vampires). The Enigma Force is essentially the god of light, the antithesis of the symbiote god Knull. Basically, Anti-Venom, but not that Anti-Venom.

Others suggested the Midnight Suns suit, Superior Octopus, Spider-Man Unlimited, and Threats and Menaces. Unlimited is an animated TV show that followed the ’90s series. In it, he tries to stop Venom and Carnage from boarding a rocket to Counter-Earth, but ends up on a most wanted list and under attack by Nick Fury. So, he borrows Reed Richards‘ nanotech to make a new suit with stealth tech and anti-symbiote weapons.

Superior Octopus is a Spider-Man-like suit that Otto Octavius wears after transferring his mind to a clone. Threats and Menaces meanwhile is a fairly recent suit, debuting in 2020. It was developed by tabloid news site TNM after Peter Parker and J. Jonah Jameson took a job there. It has built-in surveillance that lets Jameson and TNM founder Norah Winters watch what he’s up to.

Other suggestions include Miles Morales‘ Captain America, his own Iron Spider, Earth 42 Prowler from Across the Spider-Verse, and his tenth-anniversary costume (which you can see above).

Miles took the role of Captain America for a brief stint in 2021 during a What If? series set in a world where Steve Rogers died. Miles didn’t become Spidey, he accidentally took the Super Soldier serum and thus the mantle of Captain America instead.

There are a lot of suits Insomniac could use, and with two Spider-Men in play, that potential skyrockets. Maybe we’ll even see some symbiote variants of our favourites, like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume. We’ll have to wait and see.
