Metal Gear Solid 4 And Peace Walker Are Included In Master Collection’s Files

Metal Gear fans are once again playing through the classics of the series thanks to the recent release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 on modern consoles. For a lot of people, it will be the first time the first three games in the series have become easily accessible, and fans are hoping that Konami brings out a second volume in the near future that will hopefully contain some of the other games in the series that are still tricky to play, unless you’re willing to bust out old hardware.

All the evidence is pointing to that outcome, especially after one Metal Gear fan discovered several references to other games in the series in the files of the Metal Gear Solid 2: Master Collection launcher. This discovery was shared by Reddit user Timo653 on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, who has shared images of what appear to be listings for Metal Gear Solid 4, Phantom Pain, and Peace Walker.

While this doesn’t confirm another collection is in the works, it increases the likelihood of one being announced soon quite drastically. Both Metal Gear Soid 4 and Peace Walker are still stuck on older hardware, while the former has been a PS3 exclusive ever since it first launched back in 2008. Any exclusivity deals that Konami may have had with Sony at the time have surely expired by now, and it would be great to see Metal Gear Solid 4 finally rereleased on other platforms.

There’s also the fact that Konami has titled this recent collection as „Vol. 1“, which would be pretty odd if it wasn’t planning on following it up with a second. It remains to be seen whether Vol. 2 will be getting a full retail release like the first one has, or whether it will be added as expanions post-launch. Either way, it seems like the announcement of a second volume is almost a sure thing now, and we just have to wait for Konami itself to drop the curtain.

With this recent release, it’s looking like the next 12 months could be massive for Metal Gear fans. Not only do we more than likely have a second Master Collection to look forward to, but we also have the Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater remake to potentially launch within the next year too. Konami is yet to give us a release date for that one, but we’ll undoubtedly get some more news about the title at some point next year.
