We spent a few days exploring Japan in the lead-up to the actual event. This includes visiting the stores in Shibuya, the largest pop-up Pokemon Center there has ever been, and plenty of Pokemon plushies to make any fan excited.
It was clear that there was a lot of love and plenty of passion for this event, even before any of it had begun. The opening ceremony of the actual World Championships solidified this, with an incredible atmosphere.
The Championships – Stages, Events, And The Closing Ceremony
At the World Championships, it was hard not to be ecstatic, as there were constant crowds flocking to various stages where high-intensity games were taking place. Pokemon Unit, Pokemon TCG, Pokemon Go – there was something for everyone, and everything for everyone.
The closing ceremonies also included some excellent stage performances, countless dancing Pokemon, and more speeches and discussions of the results of the championships.

At Pokemon Matsuri Park, the festivities were in full swing. Here, you could take part in many different games and activities, earning stamps along the way for some prizes.
There was also the Bon Dance, where many performers and Pokemon danced around while Pokemon music was playing and drums were being played. People were getting involved and cheering, and the atmosphere was lovely.
Pokemon Trainer Cruise – A Boat-Load Of Pokemon-Themed Festivities
We boarded the Pokemon Trainer Cruise Ship where we collected stamps, saw people taking part in some TCG games, battling on Nintendo Switch systems, and took in all of the unique and interesting decorations that the ship adorned from top to bottom.
